Gaisce Update
The following is for the attention of any student that has signed up to Gaisce since September in Kinsale Community School.
I hope you and your family are keeping well during this time. This is to update you on how you can continue your Gaisce journey from home. If you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact Miss M Fleming.
As many young people now find themselves at home during the Covid-19 situation, we at Gaisce have been thinking about how they can continue with their Gaisce Award. Doing Gaisce is a great way to stay active, improve a skill and help in the community (whilst maintaining social distance of course). Today we launched ‘Gaisce at Home’/ ‘Gaisce sa Bhaile’. The campaign encourages young people, precisely as the country and the world responds to the challenge of Covid-19, to stay active and engaged in their personal development and community action! Further information about the initiative can be found on our website https://www.gaisce.ie/gaisce-at-home/
This page will be continually updated and we'd encourage PALs and Participants to share their experiences by using #GaisceAtHome or #GaisceSaBhaile on social media.
In summary the message is:
If activities already chosen in Community Involvement, Physical Recreation or Personal skill are not possible to be undertaken during the social distancing period you may choose an alternative activity that they can do from home!
You are asked to please keep a journal, video or audio recording as evidence of the new activity for your PAL and write it into your Record Sheet in your KCS Homework Journals! If you’re not sure about an activity email me on mairefleming@kinsalecommunityschool.ie to check if the new activity is ok. All your previous work still counts towards your award.
Keeping a social distance from your friends for any activities also applies and we ask you do not participate in face-to-face group activities, no matter what the size. Above all, make sure activities are safe and have supervision where you need it. If you are under 18, you should inform your parents of all your activities. Keep activities to in and around your own home. Please visit this page for updates on this is an ever-changing situation.
Suggestions for new activities can be found on https://www.gaisce.ie/gaisce-at-home/
