Cork County Council Road Safety Demonstration

The Cork County Council today held a talk and demonstration on road safety for TY students at Kinsale Community School. The event was aimed at educating young drivers on the importance of road safety and to reduce the number of accidents on Irish roads.  

The talk began with discussing the dangers of reckless driving and the impact it can have on people's lives. She shared statistics on the number of fatalities and injuries caused by road accidents in Ireland, highlighting the need for young drivers to be responsible on the road. 

She discussed the effect crashes have on emergency services personnel when they have to attend to crash sites and how it can have a negative effect on their mental health after responding to these crashes.  

There was a VR experience that put students as a passenger of a car that has been in a crash, this experience was to make people think twice about speeding, driving distractions and car safety. 

The talk was an eye-opener for the students, who were shown the harsh realities of what can happen when road safety is not taken seriously. The event was an important reminder for young drivers to be responsible on the road and to make smart decisions while driving. It highlighted the need for education on road safety and the importance of taking driving seriously.
