Empowering Our Students: Anti-Bullying Week Talk by James O’Mahony
During Anti-Bullying Week, our first-year students had the privilege of hearing from James O’Mahony, a representative from Kinsale Youth Support Services (KYSS). James engaged our students in an insightful discussion on the nature of bullying, its profound impacts, and the pivotal role each student plays in preventing it.
James provided a comprehensive understanding of bullying, shedding light on its different forms and the potential effects it can have on individuals. Students were empowered with knowledge on how they can actively contribute to creating a positive and inclusive school environment. The talk addressed the important role of bystanders in preventing and stopping bullying, and practical guidance was shared on what students should do if they witness bullying or find themselves being bullied.
To conclude the session, James shared valuable insights into the impactful work that KYSS does to support young people in Kinsale and its surrounding areas. As a token of encouragement, each student received a KYSS wristband to serve as a reminder of their commitment to kindness and respect.
A special thanks to James O’Mahony for his informative and inspiring presentation, and to KYSS for their dedication to the well-being of our youth.
