Junior Ladies Soccer Success
Our Junior Ladies soccer team travelled to Skibbereen to play their first match of the season on Monday the 10th October.
Kinsale had a great start to the game with an early free kick taken by Kara Dillion which lead to the first goal of the match. Soon after the ball was crossed into the box where Emma MacSweeney and Lauren Baulaur both attempted shots. Both were unfortunately blocked but Kara made her way on to the ball, took her shot and stretched Kinsale’s lead making it 2-0. Great defensive efforts were made by Skye Sheedy and Suzie Keating cutting out any chances made by Skibbereen. Ellie Sheedy also made amazing saves in the first half to keep Skibbereen scoreless. Moments before the whistle blew Kara was able to take another shot making it 3-0 to Kinsale at half time.
The second half began with great runs and passes form Samantha Purdie. Another fantastic goal from Kara made it 4-0 to Kinsale in the early stages of the second half. Not long after, Emma MacSweeney made her way on to the ball where she was able to dribble it past Skibbereen’s defense and took her shot into the bottom corner. Just a few moments after Emma’s goal Aisling Coleman got the ball, found space and scored the 6th goal for Kinsale. Skibbereen retaliated to that goal making the score 6-1. In the last few moments of the game Lauren Baulaur maneuvers her way into the box and takes a lovely shot which ends up in the back of the net.
It was a brilliant win for the girls with a score of 7-1.
