Calling all young film makers - First Cut! Youth Film Festival
First Cut! Youth Film Festival is thrilled to announce that entries for the 2020 festival are now being accepted!
All films made under the Cork Young Filmmakers programme will be screened in the festival, but if there are there any students in your school making short films independently or any other film projects being run by the school, we would love to hear from you.
First Cut! accepts films from individual filmmakers aged 12-24 and from schools, colleges and youth groups. Please visit firstcutfilmfestival.com to find out how to submit your film free of charge. Every type of film is welcome, including fiction, documentary, animation and music video.
As an acknowledgement of the sheer amount and quality of film making taking place now in schools throughout Ireland, First Cut! has a special category in its open call programme for films made in schools. For many young people, school is where they get the initial chance to make a film and indeed the opportunity in many cases to hone this craft.
The festival runs Wednesday 11th - Saturday 14th March 2020.
The deadline for entries is Tuesday, January 21st 2020.
Based at the Mall Arts Centre and the Regal Cinema in Youghal, Co.Cork this annual festival is dedicated to showcasing new films by young filmmakers. Now in its eleventh year, it offers screenings, workshops and talks by film industry professionals in a friendly atmosphere where young filmmakers can meet and mingle with their peers.
First Cut! Youth Film Festival is funded by the Arts Council/ An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Cork County Council and local business sponsorship and is facilitated by Cork Film Centre.
