All Ireland Camogie 7's Blitz

On October 19th, the Junior Camogie team travelled up to Dunganny County Meath to compete in the All Ireland 7’s blitz which they had qualified for having won the Munster 7s blitz the previous month in Mallow. The girls had an early morning as the departed KCS at 6.30am.

Our opening game was against St. Killian’s from Ulster. A very competitive first half had the teams level at half time with a score of 4-0 each. The second half saw some beautiful scores by Caoimhe Horgan and Catherine Murphy but an unfortunate last second goal by St. Killian’s saw them take the win by a single point.

Kinsale took on St. Rapheal’s of Loughrea from Connaught in the second match. Weather conditions were starting to fail with rain and wind approaching but the girls played on. Excellent skills were shown and superb defending was displayed in the backline by Sarah Lynch and Pamela O’Donovan but unfortunately Loughrea were too strong for our KCS team

Bannagher College from Leinster was our last and final team to play. Some fantastic saves were made by our goalkeeper Kate Cusack and great determination shown by Carly Helbrow and Maisie O’Callaghan but despite their outstanding efforts, it was not KCS’s day.

Even though the girls did not come away with the win, fabulous team spirit was shown throughout the day and they never gave up. Great memories and friends were made from this experience. Well done to all the girls involved as they represented the school proudly at the highest level in the sport.
