Small Seeds Grow Mighty Trees: Primary School COP Event at Kinsale Community School

Each year, Kinsale Community School proudly hosts the Primary School COP event, bringing together local 6th class students to engage in meaningful discussions on sustainability, climate action, biodiversity, and global citizenship. This event provides a unique opportunity for young minds to explore and understand their role in shaping a more sustainable future.

On Wednesday, the 5th of March, we will welcome over 200 primary school students to our school, a testament to the shared commitment of our local schools in developing young activists who are passionate about protecting our planet.

This year’s event promises an engaging and interactive experience. The students will attend a sustainability fair, where they can:

  • Interact with our students and learn from their experiences.

  • Participate in climate-based games designed to make learning fun and impactful.

  • Explore some of our BT Young Scientist and Young Environmentalist projects.

In addition to the fair, students will take part in a workshop where they will:

  • Debate current global citizenship issues, encouraging critical thinking and informed discussion.

  • Engage in a mini Junk Kouture workshop, showcasing creativity through sustainable fashion.

  • Plant a tree representing their school, symbolising the deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and the lasting impact of their efforts.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Small Seeds Grow Mighty Trees’, highlighting the belief that even the smallest actions can lead to powerful, long-term change. Through collaboration, education, and hands-on experiences, we aim to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.

We look forward to a day of learning, engagement, and action as we work together to build a more sustainable future for all!
