Despite the harsh weather conditions, the students went straight to work and participated fully in using various pieces of equipment to take measurements and collect data. The students calculated the cliff height, they completed a wave survey by completing a wave analysis to identify the wave type and investigated erosion by conducting a fabric analysis test.
This project gave the students a great opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real life context. The students learned many new skills, such as learning how to use equipment such as clinometers, ranging poles and callipers. and The students gained a greater understanding of coastal processes of erosion in a coastal environment. The students had a great day despite the poor weather conditions, with some students braving the water for a quick swim, before going back into school and launching into the GI booklet write up.
