Lions Club Business Breakfast Briefing

Kinsale Lions Club held a business and community breakfast briefing, budget analysis and economic outlook 2024 event on Friday 13th October in Kinsale Hotel & Spa. Keynote speaker was leading Economist Jim Power who has a successful podcast called The Other Hand, this is a leading business podcast with Chris Johns covering business, politics and economics. The goal of this event is to help raise funds to support the Cork University Hospital -CUH Charity Paediatric Ward. More specifically this Kinsale Lions Club event will support the courtyard element of the new Children’s ED – due to open later this year.

Kinsale Community School were represented at this exciting event by Business teachers Ms. Máire Fleming and Mr. Jamie Torpey as well as Head-boy Evan Lehane and Head-girl Jessica Moloney.

The event was chaired by Mr. Cormac Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald & Partners Accountants. Other speakers included Alice De La Cour President of Kinsale Lions Club and a doctor from the Paediatric Team in CUH.

Congratulations to Kinsale Lions Club on organising a wonderful event that explored the key features of how Budget 2024 will affect businesses, households and our communities, as well as issues like inflation rates, the housing crisis and the local and international economic trends that we can expect in the coming months.

Kinsale Lions Club is a very important organisation to our school, all profits from all activities go directly to supporting local charities, including the annual School Bursary to us here in KCS that goes to towards helping students and families that need it in our school community to access education.  Other charities that the Lions Club help are Cork Hospital Children’s Club, Men’s Shed, KYSS Counselling and Support Services, Kinsale Youth Club, Meals on Wheels among many more.
