Seachtain na Gaeilge

Cuireadh tús le Seachtain na Gaeilge Dé Luain, 7ú Márta ar scoil. Bhí neart imeachtaí agus spraoi againn le linn na seachtaine ag spreagadh na Gaeilge timpeall na scoile. Ghlac daltaí páirt I réimse imeachtaí ar nós Gaeilge Ghasta, céilí, biongó, cluiche sacair, scannán, siúlóid, tráth na gceist agus comórtas postaeir. Cuireadh an scannán Shrek “as Gaeilge” ar siúl sa chlub Gaeilge ag am lóin Dé Luain agus bhain daltaí ón gcéad agus ón tríú bliain an-sult as.

Mar a deir an seanfhocal: “ Beatha teanga í a labhairt.”

Seachtain na Gaeilge began on Monday, 7th March at school. We had plenty of activities and fun during the week encouraging Gaeilge around the school. Students took part in a range of activities such as speed-dating “as Gaeilge”, céilí, bingo, soccer match, movie, a walk, quiz and a poster competition. The movie Shrek was put on “as Gaeilge” in the Club Gaeilge at lunchtime on Monday and students from first and third year really enjoyed. The fifth years also watched the movie Arracht that was in the cinema recently.

We organised a couple of competitions during the week as well. Every day, hints were read out about a teacher in the school for “Aimsigh an Gadaí” and the students put their answers into the box in the C corridor. As well as that, we organised “An Crannchur Mór” again this year agus students won a ticket if they made a good effort to use their Gaeilge around the school. The students in first year made a great effort in the poster competition based on a nice “seanfhocal.” The winners will be announced next Monday! As the seanfhocal goes: “The life of a language is to speak it.”
