Flat Out Racing ‘Best Verbal Presentation’ at the F1 Virtual National Finals

Flat Out Racing are a group of determined TY students who took part in the F1 in Schools 2021 Competition.

The competition challenges students to design, build (3D print) and race a Formula One car which is powered by compressed gas cylinders capable of going 0 – 80 km/h in under a second.  The competition involved judging in a variety of categories including racing, scrutineering, an engineering portfolio, an enterprise portfolio, a verbal presentation, a pit display and a social media and marketing plan.

During the national finals, the judging process consisted of various interviews, portfolios submissions, car time trial and even knockout racing. This was all conducted virtually due to the ongoing pandemic.

Congratulations to Charlie Sheehan (Team Manager), Ben Loughnane (Sponsorship and Marketing Manager), Zack O’ Brien (Graphic Designer), Kris O’ Callaghan (Design Engineer) and Conor Fitzpatrick (Manufacturing Engineer) and their teacher Mr Duggan who were recently awarded the ‘Best Verbal Presentation’ at the Virtual finals.

Well done to the first KCS girls F1 team ‘Team Bolt’ who also represented the school at the event and were nominated for a number of awards.
