Munster Indoor Athletics Championship success for KCS Students

A group of 18 students from Kinsale Community School travelled to Nenagh on Tuesday for the Munster Schools Indoor Athletics Championships. It was a really successful trip with all students performing well and really doing themselves and the school proud.

Before the bus had even time to park, 1st year Katie O Regan  had won silver in the Junior girls hurdles!

Our Junior girls relay team made up of  Rachel O Brien, Nicole Buckley, Katie O Regan and Lauren Green  won gold with an outstanding team performance. 

Claire Crowley came first in the minor girls 1200m

Nicole Buckley also brought home silver in the minor girls 1200m

Sam Kiely came 3rd in  the Minor 1200m. Joey and Michael also performed well. 

David McCarthy performed well in the Intermediate 1200m and long jump while nursing an injury.

Ryan McCarthy, Elliot Ager and Max Lee, Joey O Callaghan and Erhan Farley  all took part in the 60m sprints.

Zach Allen and Max Lee took part in the 600m with Zach coming second in his heat. 

Hugh Hoare, Katie O Regan, Evan O Dowd all took on the long jump With Katie getting the junior gold with a jump of 4.84m.

We had two minor boys relay teams who both performed very well.

Team 1: Ryan McCarthy, Joey O Callaghan, Hugh Hoare and Michael O Driscoll.

Team 2: Kallum Good, Erhan Farley, , Jamie O Sullivan and Evan O Dowd


Our Junior boys team were unlucky not to place as they came second in their heat. Well done to Zack Allen, Max Lee, Shane Hartnett and Elliot Ager. 


Thanks to Sinead O Regan from Kinsale/ Riverstick AC and TY student Rose Marie Buckley who made sure that everyone was warmed up and ready for their events.
