Munster “C” Round 1 Senior Hurling group game.

KCS 1-22 St. Caimins, Shannon 1-15

Our senior hurlers took to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon for a 12.30 throw in against St Caimins. Both teams needed a win to ensure progression from the group and the game that followed proved to be a physical and hotly contested match. After a bright start from a free by DJ Twomey, KCS found themselves 4 points to 2 in arrears after 10 minutes. Soon after that however our midfield of Colin Roche and Charlie Grainger started to have a much bigger impact on the game, shutting down incoming ball and launching many attacks of our own. Valuable points from Michael Murphy and Cian Quinn meant we soon took the lead. Our full back line were well on top all throughout the game, in particular William Jeffries who gave a commanding display from start to finish. Although St Caimins got a well taken goal against the run of play, KCS fought back with a goal of their own after a shot by Jack O’Donovans shot was partially saved and made its way over the goal line. After numerous points being swapped, the first half ended 1-12 to 1-8 in favour of KCS

KCS kept the pressure on in the second half and were rewarded with points from Jack O’Donovan, Eoin O’Donovan and an excellent long range score by Charlie Grainger. St Caimins never dies away and continued to endeavor by keeping the score board ticking over for themselves. Keith Webb made a telling contribution from center back, providing DJ Twomey with countless platforms to launch attacks. Our lads continued to take their points on offer even with two 21 meter frees going over the bar to ensure the result ended in our favour. Next up is the round 2 game against Carrick CBS on Wednesday 20th Nov.
