KCS Senior Hurling

KCS Senior Hurlers took on Rochestown College in the last 16 of Munster on Wednesday 5th December in the 4G pitch in Pairc ui Chaoimh. The game was a thrilling contest which was played in front of a good crowd of both Kinsale and Rochestown supporters. Kinsale got off to a great start with a goal from Aaron Lyons who caused a lot of trouble for the Rochestown defence throughout the game. However, the game soon turned and Rochestown were on top for the next 20 minutes as the continued to outscore us and also bagged a goal of their own. Prior to half time Kinsale rallied and scored 3 unanswered points with John O'Brien, Richard Sweetnam and Aidan O'Donovan coming to the fore. This saw Kinsale going in 3 points down at the break. After half time we saw a much improved Kinsale side which put Rochestown under severe pressure throughout the second half. A Ryan Long goal meant that there was only 2 between the sides and Kinsale looked like they would push on and win the game. However, soon after Ryan's goal Rochestown got one of their own which was followed by 4 unanswered points and it was too much for our lads to answer. The game finished on a scoreline of2-19 to 2-10to Rochestown. This was a bitterly disappointing result for the KCS lads as it meant the end of their Munster campaign. However, they are a very resilient bunch and will look forward to defending their Cork title from last year in 2019.
