European FLIC Awards
Our 5th year art class were lucky enough to be picked by the County Arts Council for involvement in the European FLIC awards. A renowned Cork based artist, Fiona Kelly came in to oversee the project. The FLIC network is a programme aimed at design and illustration in schools. The aim of the programme is to promote the relationship between literature and illustration. Each participant was given a text to illustrate and a piece of handmade cotton paper. They then set out to illustrate their text using only Chinese black ink. The rules also stipulated that they could not use brushes so we used sponges, stencils, calligraphy pens, spray bottles etc. The finished designs have been sent to Barcelona where they will be exhibited in March. We wish all our entrants the best of luck in the competition.
