Apprentice Chef Cookery Competition
On Friday the 9th of November four students travelled with their Home Economics teachers to I.T. Tralee to the launch of the Apprentice chef cookery competition. The students got a tour from a qualified chef of all the different types of kitchens available in the I.T. as well as an overview of how the kitchen and restaurant runs.
Following the tour, a nutritionist gave an overview of healthy eating that everyone really enjoyed! Saving the best till last- the cookery demonstrations showed students how to take local simple ingredients to make nutritious delicious meals! Some of our students even got involved in the cooking and presentation process! The competition encourages participants to use local ingredients to create a healthy balanced ‘good mood’ dish.
Thank you to Home Economics teachers Ms Eimear Murphy and Ms Edel O’Sullivan for travelling with the students.
