Maths Week

It was an extra busy week this week for our Maths students at Kinsale Community School as we celebrated Maths week. Pictured below is a poster created by Ms M O’Brien’s Maths class on the Fibonacci sequence.

On Thursday 18th October a group of 3rd year and transition year students attended a fascinating lecture in UCC. The lecture was organised as part of Maths Week and focused on the connection between Mathematics and Celtic Knots. Students even had an opportunity to draw their own celtic knot and students and teachers alike really enjoyed the experience.

The lecture was delivered by Christian Mercat who is the director of the Lyon Research Institute for Mathematics Education at the  University of Lyon.
