KCS Junior Girls Soccer Munster Cup vs SMGS Blarney

On Tuesday 7th November, our Junior Girls soccer team travelled on their first outing away to SMGS Blarney.

With a strong 1st half performance from Blarney. Kinsale battled hard in defence with Emma Jones, Amy Hayes and Lauren Balaur leading from the back. Aisling Lynch, Claire Linehan and Emma MacSweeney working hard in attack but couldn’t find a way past Blarney’s experienced defence. A breaking ball fell to Emma MacSweeney, 20 yards out from goal. Emma took on 3 Blarney defenders and slotted the ball in the back of the net. The girls finished the game on a high with some excellent link up play and threats on goal.

Although the result did not reflect the girl’s overall performance, there are huge positives to take away from today’s game. Notable mention for Kate O’Callaghan, Charlotte Kiely, Monica DeAnte and Rosin Kelly who played their first competitive soccer game. The girls are looking forward to their league campaign beginning in a couple of weeks.
