Former Student John Walsh Inspires TY Students with Paramedic Talk

On Monday, Transition Year students had the privilege of hearing from former student John Walsh, who returned to share his journey of becoming a paramedic. John, a proud graduate of our school, captivated students with his story of dedication, hard work, and a deep commitment to helping others.

John spoke about the path he took after leaving school, detailing the training required to qualify as a paramedic and the challenges he faced along the way. He emphasised the importance of staying calm under pressure, working as part of a team, and maintaining empathy in critical situations.

Students were particularly interested in the day-to-day realities of life as a paramedic. John shared gripping stories of emergencies he has responded to and highlighted the rewarding feeling of making a difference in people’s lives.

The talk was both informative and inspiring, offering students valuable insight into a career in healthcare and the various ways they can contribute to their communities. Many left the talk with a newfound respect for the vital role paramedics play in society.

We are incredibly proud to see John thriving in his career and grateful that he took the time to return and inspire the next generation of students. Thank you, John, for your meaningful words and for showing our students the impact they can have when they follow their passion.
