Transition Year Programme 2023/24 Important Information
Important information for parents of incoming Transition Year Students
As your commitment to the programme is of high priority we would like to draw your attention to the following important points:
Class places once allocated cannot be changed
All Transition Year activities are obligatory
School rules, attendance and uniform are as for all other year groups
School work whether class work, homework, project work or other must always be completed and presented as requested and on time
Where conduct, behaviour or attitude is adverse to the greater good of other TY students or the TY programme it may result in immediate transfer to 5th year in the course of TY
It is difficult in the current economic climate to estimate the budget for the program we will run next year as in particular bus costs are currently impossible to predict. However we will endeavour to deliver a programme as close to previous years as possible. Therefore we expect the cost of the programme to be approximately €500. We propose to collect 2 instalments as follows:
€250 on acceptance of place, due by June 9th 2023
€250 due by August 23rd 2023
If you require alternative instalment arrangements or are unable to pay on this date please contact the school office to discuss or email info@kinsalecommunityschool.ie. Prompt payment is appreciated as activities need to be booked and paid for. Payment will be through our EasyPay system, details are attached to this email. If you have not paid the 1st instalment by June 9th / or made contact with the school re payment by this date we will assume your son/daughter is not taking up their place in TY and we will offer their place to someone on our waiting list.
The Ballyhass Outdoor Pursuits Course is currently booked to take place Sept 25th to Sept 28th 2023. This trip is a compulsory element of the TY programme and is seen as essential for the purpose of teambuilding and bonding within the group. If your child cannot attend for medical reasons then please contact me by email at niamhhay@kinsalecommunityschool.ie as soon as possible.
During the year it is sometimes necessary for your son/daughter to leave the school premises on school business and for work. You must confirm permission for this for the year on the TY acceptance form, click on the link below to complete this form.
