RedFM Breakfast Show Broadcast Live from KCS

The back-to-school buzz was well and truly felt by students, parents, and staff of Kinsale Community School this morning as they were welcomed by Rob, Ciara and Laura of the REDFM breakfast show, right at our school entrance! The team spent the morning with us by the REDFM Bus, broadcasting positive energy live from KCS in celebrating the beginning of the school year.

Rob Heffernan, now a frequent guest of our school, interviewed students as they approached the building on this beautiful, sunny, Kinsale morning. He caught up with Gerard Gillen who reflected on his previous school year opportunities, including a trip to Dalas to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championships! Caoimhe McGuinness spoke for many of the Leaving Certificate students in the county, hoping to ‘keep the head down this year, but to have a bit of craic along the way!’ Ted O Callaghan chatted with Rob about his plans to focus on his studies this year, while also sharing some of his recent Munster Rugby achievements.

Ms Chloe O Regan (pictured below) revealed some of the upcoming plans for the current TY group, including trips to the Dock Beach, Ballyhass, Germany France and beyond! Next up, it wasn’t long before Laura O’Mahoney got speaking to some of the leading female cast from Greece the musical, who reminisced on their happy memories working together to produce their fabulous TY musical. The girls impressed Laura with their theatrical knowledge and shared some of their hopes and possibilities for the future in relation to music and the arts.

Parents James and Michael discussed their roles in the community, reminding students of the Kinsale Youth Support Services which are available to support the people of Kinsale and surrounding areas. James, Michael and the entire team at KYSS do fantastic work with young people and their families in promoting positive mental health among the community.

Finally, Principal Fergal McCarthy thanked Rob and the team for providing the school community with the ‘perfect start’ to the school year, creating excitement and ‘lifelong memories for our students.’ Rob complimented many aspects of the school, including it’s scenery, energy, enthusiasm and inclusivity. Mr McCarthy noted both the love for the community, and desire to spread positivity shared by REDFM and KCS, which we will undoubtedly strive to maintain each and every day as the year progresses.

Wishing everyone a happy, fulfilling and successful school year!
