TY Microsoft DreamSpace Workshop
Today Transition Year students Sophie Peare, Lucy McCarthy, Momo Sheehy and Lilian Gleave participated in the DreamSpace Workshop as part of the Microsoft and Airtricity Solar Schools Education Programme. The day started off with a question and answer session about Microsoft where we were shown all the different routes on how to develop a career in the area. We were also taught about artificial intelligence and how it is used in our everyday life. We learned about Microsoft's process to design products using a method called "design thinking". We employed this technique to design our own prototype using recycled materials. We came up with the idea for a heating system in which your temperature would be scanned as you walk in the door and if you were too cold, your designated chair would heat up to keep you warm. It was a lot of fun for us all and taught us all about technology and design as a tool for solving major global issues.
