KCS visits National Maritime College
On Thursday 8th Nov all transition year students and a number of sixth year students attended the National Maritime College of Ireland's open day in Ringaskiddy. The students were given a talk on the three degree courses that are available there, as part of Cork Institute of Technology. They got to meet the industry companies who recruit the students and where they will be taken on for a year placement out at sea.
Tours were given of the campus including a simulator of a ship's high-tech bridge, the unique 'environmental pool' where training for sea rescues take place as well as electronic classrooms and the panoramic chartroom. It was a great day and the feedback from the students was very positive. A great insight into third level education and what it can provide.
