Soccer Update: 

Senior:

Congratulations to members of our senior soccer squad who won the Cork Futsal Finals in Bishopstown on Tuesday. The team previously qualified from the group stages last Friday and were worthy winners of the Finals.

U15 Munster Cup: 

Hard luck to the u15 soccer squad who were defeated in the Munster Cup. The team played excellent on the day creating great scoring opportunities and defending very well throughout the game. The team will continue to train hard over the coming weeks  and prepare for the next game.

  U15 Football: 

Congratulations to the U15 footballers have qualified for the Munster final for the first time in the school's history.

They overcame a tough Kilmacthomas team in the semi final. We started well and went ahead but Kilmacthomas finished the half strong, and the teams went in level at 1-3 to 6.

A brilliant goal early in the second half from Paul Graham put some daylight between the teams. Jason Russell and Kris O'Callaghan were leading by example at the back, while Louis Allman and Paul really took control of things in midfield. Captain Matthew Higgins and Max Cronin kicked some excellent scores, and with a few minutes to go Daniel O'Donovan hit the back of the net to seal the victory, on a scoreline of 3-12 to 9 points.

It was another fantastic team effort, playing with skill and determination. Causeway from Kerry await us in the final on December 12th, a tough challenge but one the lads are looking forward to.

 Rugby:

U14 and U15 Boys Munster Emerging Schools competition.

The Munster emerging schools competition structure is as follows; 4 blitz days running from October to March comprising of 3-4 games day. It’s played with 11 players from each team on a full pitch, the games run for 20 minutes and rolling substitutes are allowed. This format allows for free flowing rugby and full participation from all players in the squad.

Under 15 second blitz - 14th November

Kinsale Community Schools inaugural U15 rugby team marked their second Blitz competition in Dunmanway RFC with a clean sweep. Winning 3 games against S.t Brogans College, Maria Immaculate Community College and Bantry Community College.

Each game was a challenge for our players but they showed great skill, teamwork and determination. The pack gave a great platform throughout the day with Eric Lynch, Adam Walsh, Cian Looney and Dylan Mullen imposing their games. The back-line really showed class scoring some well worked Tries. They were guided David O’ Leary and Paul Graham playing 9 and 10 respectively. With powerful runs from Eoin O‘ Rouke and Billy O’Riodan. KCS U15 continued their unbeaten run having already having won 3 games from their first Blitz in October at Clonakilty RFC. All player showered great team spirit so far this season and they hope to continue the current run.

Under 14 second blitz – 22nd November

Kinsale Community Schools under 14 squad currently has 25-27 players training each week, this commitment from the players has resulting in 2 teams being entered into the emerging schools competition. The second blitz day was held in PBC rugby grounds in Dennehys Cross and both teams followed in the footsteps of the U15 and won all 3 games. All players must be proud of their performance especially overcoming teams from Bandon Grammar School, Christian Brothers School and Presentation Brothers College. 

The two teams were allowed to express themselves and showed great character and skill to navigate some very hard fought games. Although all players had great games some standouts in the backs include Zack Allen, Max Condon, Elliot Aye and Ted O Callaghan. Both packs worked extremely hard giving backs space to score some great Tries. A big effort from Diarmuid Walton and Mason Tibbs help the packs take control of the games.

Its still early in the Journey for KCS Rugby but a bright one, due to the great commitment shown by all players and they must be all proud of their performances so far.
